Switching to WBFF

I've competed with NPC for the past 7 years and it's been a great ride, but this past year with some odd feedback that I don't particularly agree with I've decided its time for a change. I love competing but it's kind of lost its luster and not as fun as it used to be. I feel with all the hard work that goes into prepping for a contest that I should be having alot more fun once the show is here. So with some research and looking into other federations I've decided to switch to WBFF.

You may be wondering why. Well just by talking to others whe were in NPC and switched over to either WBFF or Fitness America, all have said they are having the time of their lives. To be honest by watching video it looks like alot of fun. So what the heck! I might as well try it. So in 2012 you will see me on a WBFF stage in Dallas and Oklahoma City. I'm soooo excited.

Done for the Season

Finished up my last contest for the year and will take a break from strict dieting. Although my goal is to stay as close to contest weight as possible. I'm looking to streamline my shape a little bit for the next show. I have a couple areas to work on. My glutes and low back need to be tighter. I plan to implement alot of lunges, squats, and spend more time on the step mill for cardio.

Here are a couple of photos from the Texas State Bikini Championships

New Food Finds

I've been getting alot of advice and researching quick and easy healthy foods. I don't travel often but when I do I want to make sure I have certain foods that I can pack that are healthy. I've actually found a few great things this week.

When I travel I always take a large Ziploc baggie of whey protein powder, protein bars, and tuna packets. I have now found some new items I can pack. When I was shopping at Kroger a couple days ago I found a package of precooked brown rice. All you need is a fork or spoon and a microwave if one is handy.
I also found out that airports consider peanut butter a liquid. I thought that was pretty odd but I did find a product that is a powdered natural peanut butter, even better it's 85% less fat. This can be easily packed in carry on luggage and not be considered liquid. It's called PB2.

Another product that was mentioned was protein bread. Yes I said protein bread, this bread has 28g. of protein, it's 100% whole wheat, and natural. I was very excited to hear this and was thinking what a great post workout meal of P28 bread, natural peanut butter, and jelly sandwich. They also make bagels.

Hopefully you will be as excited as I was to find these healthy food choices and all of them great for travel.

Summer Vacation

Well here we are already into July. I finished out the Spring with 2 contests and have been relaxing thus far this summer. We've spent several days out on the boat at the lake and did that much of 4th of July weekend. I'm now on vacation this week and am just plain relaxing and getting some great workouts in. My workouts have been great and my strength is definitely increasing. hopefully I will have added a bit more size before I start cutting for the next contest in October.

July is a busy month with a Product Education Conference in Orlando,Florida. All Vitamin Shoppe managers will be in attendance for the week. I will bring home lots of knowledge and looking forward to meeting many of our vendors. Following the conference I will be heading back to Iowa to see my family and attend my 25th class reunion. WOW!!! yes 25 years. Looking forward to connecting with classmates I haven't been in contact with for years and also those I speak to often.

Once I'm back in town toward the end of July I will be gearing up for contest prep sometime in mid to late August.

Hope you are all having a great summer so far.

XOXO

Competition

Well I made it through my 1st two shows of the year. It was a new experience as I switched from figure to bikini and had to learn a whole new way of posing and different type suits. I placed 3rd in Bikini Masters at the West Texas Classic and 10th in Bikini Class B.

One week later I competed at the Ronnie Coleman Classic, the largest show in Texas history. I placed 7th in Masters Bikini and 16th in Bikini Class B. There were a whoppin 28 girls in Class B it was like competing at nationals.

My next show will be in October. I believe I'm going to stick with bikini, my trainer and i both think it's more suited for my body type. I'm just going to try and add a bit more size to my legs, bring in my waist a bit and build and tighten the glutes more.
