The year has just flown by and it's hard to believe it is the holiday season. Thanksgiving is just a few days away. Tis the season for busy holiday preparations and shopping. Not to mention all the holiday parties.
It is easy to forget our fitness goals during this season. It's a good reason to make special goals through the holidays. Make sure you get to the gym and get your workouts in. It is the best stress reliever there is. Run short on time at least get in a 30 min. circuit workout in. You will be glad you did.
Before hitting the festive parties eat a small healthy meal first and drink plenty of water. This will reduce the chance of over eating on unhealthy foods.
Pick a couple special treats and enjoy. just remember moderation is key. Wouldn't it be better to maintain your weight rather than trying to lose that extra 5 lbs in the new year.
Thanksgiving meal can actually be very healthy. Skip the white potatoes and have sweet potatoes instead (without the marshmallows and brown sugar.) Have plenty of vegetables and than feel free to indulge in the pumpkin pie.
Than get outside for a fun game of flag football.
Here is one of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes. It's healthy too.
Mashed Sweet potatoes
4 sweet potatoes or yams, cooked and peeled
1 1/2 c. of sugar free applesauce
1 tbs. sugar free maple syrup
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Cook and peel sweet potatoes, mix all ingredients and use a potato masher or blender and mash and blend ingredients.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
